Drake warmed fans’ hearts this Easter Sunday (April 4) with a video of his 3-year-old son Adonis playing basketball. The toddler was seen sinking shot after shot in a miniature basketball hoop at home in a video posted to Drizzy’s Instagram Story.
In the clip, which was recirculated on Twitter by fans, Adonis can be heard saying, “Two times” as he lands multiple shots. A female voice, possibly his mother Sophie Brussaux’s, can be heard cheering on the toddler in both English and French while Drake’s hit “What’s Next” plays in the background. The proud dad uploaded the clip to his Stories along with several water drop emojis.
The last fans saw of Drake’s young son was on his first day of school. After keeping Adonis’ life mostly private for the past few years, Drake shared the first photos of his son on Instagram last spring.
“I posted those pictures… it was great for me,” Drake told Lil Wayne on the latter’s Young Money Radio show. “It was great to just share that with the world and I just felt like… It wasn’t even anything I talked to anybody about or anything I planned. I just woke up one morning and I was like, you know what? This is just something that I want to do.”
“I want to be able to go places with my son and share memories with my son,” he added. “I don’t want to feel like just because of a life choice I made to be a celebrity that I got to make everybody live under this blanket… I just wanted to free myself of that.”
The new post arrives as anticipation continues to build for Drake’s sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy.
“I’m just really excited about the music that we’re making and I feel like I’ve locked into a zone where I’m really trying to execute on a project that’s fulfilling for my soul,” he recently said on his SiriusXM station SOUND 42. “I don’t have an exact date, but just know that it’s in a pot and it’s coming soon.”
