On Sunday (March 14), Blue Ivy became a Grammy winner when Beyoncé’s visual for “Brown Skin Girl” snatched the award for Best Music Video. The victory marked her first-ever Grammy win and cemented her name in Grammys history as the second youngest person to take home one of the highly-desired trophies.
Since Blue wasn’t present at the actual ceremony, her mother, Queen Bey, congratulated her while accepting the award for Best R&B Performance. She later shared a few photos of her nine-year-old celebrating her first Grammy win.
In the photos, Blue is captured sporting a crown that many presume to be the one The Notorious B.I.G. wore in the “King of New York” photo taken during the final photoshoot before his death.
“Blue Ivy flexing her first Grammy and Biggie’s crown is the best thing you’ll see today!” wrote one Twitter user, while another person tweeted, “She’s really so nonchalant about it. She’s wearing Biggie’s crown AND sipping out of her own Grammy at 9 years old???? Blue Ivy is a legend.”
Though it is yet not clear whether Blue was wearing Big’s crown, many noted the accessory previously sold for $600,000 at Sotheby’s hip hop auction back in September, and shared their beliefs that Hov and Bey were the ones to make the purchase.
“Blue Ivy took a Grammy pic with Biggie’s crown,” wrote a Twitter user. “I KNEW Hova paid that half a mil. I knew it lol”
One of Blue’s photos, specifically the one where she is drinking from her trophy, also drew reactions from JAY-Z fans who recalled his acceptance speech following his Grammy win for the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration back in 2014.
“I want to tell Blue, ‘Daddy got a gold sippy cup for you,’” JAY said at the time.
