Kanye West is worth $6.6 billion dollars and more than half of it is due to his Yeezy sneaker and apparel brand.
According to Bloomberg, the Jesus Is King emcee‘s Yeezy Brand, which is in partnership with Adidas AG and Gap Inc., is now valued between $3.2 billion and $4.7 billion by UBS Group AG. West’s new collaboration with Gap, which is set to hit stores this summer, “could be worth as much as $970 million of that total,” reports the outlet. In addition to the money from Yeezy, the Chicago native has $122 million in stock and cash, $110 million from his music catalog and $1.7 billion in other assets, including his estranged wife’s SKIMS business.
Last year, West signed a 10-year contract to design and sell garments under the Yeezy Gap label. He has full creative control and ownership over the brand, which is expected to break $150 million in sales during its first full year in 2022. The “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” emcee will construct clothing for children, men and women, however, the line will exclude footwear.
“We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his Yeezy brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership,” the Global Head of Gap Brand Mark Breitbard said in a press release last summer.
Ye celebrated the partnership by getting a personalized message printed on a Gap store in his home city. “Thank God. Hi Chicago, it’s Ye,” the huge mural-like banner read. “This is the Gap Store I used to shop at when I would drive my Nissan from the Southside. So Blessed. I thank God and I am so humbled at the opportunity to serve. I put my heart into the color palette and every detail.”
“I love Tron the original. Do you like stuff? I don’t know what to do with my hands. Love, YZY Yeezy,” the message concluded.
