Actress Holly Robinson Peete revealed the real reason she left “The Talk” after Sharon Osbourne clashed with co-host Sheryl Underwood for defending Piers Morgan after he criticized Meghan Markle for claiming that members of the Royal Family made racist comments about her son.
Peete was originally a co-host on “The Talk” alongside Osbourne, but in 2010, it was announced that she would be leaving the show after one season. There was no reason given for her departure. She had been vague about why she left in the past, but now she is speaking out and claims Osbourne had something to do with her removal from the show.
On Friday (March 12), a fan tweeted that no one listened to Peete when she previously spoke about Osbourne’s “thinly veiled racism.” The former “Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper” star replied, “I’m old enough to remember when Sharon complained that I was too ‘ghetto’ for #TheTalk…then I was gone. I bring this up now bc I was mortified watching the disrespectful condescending tone she took w/ her co-host who remained calm & respectful because…she HAD to.”
Osbourne and Underwood got into a heated debate on Wednesday (March 10) after the London native defended Morgan after people called him out for constantly criticizing the Duchess of Sussex.
“What would you say to people who may feel that while you’re standing by your friend, it appears you gave validation or safe haven to something that he has uttered that is racist, even if you don’t agree?” Underwood asked her British co-star.
Osbourne said that she was unfairly being called a racist because she defended her friend. “I will ask you again Sheryl. I’ve been asking you during the break. I’m asking you again. And don’t try and cry because if anyone should be crying, it should be me,” she said. “This is the situation. You tell me where you have heard him say … educate me, tell me when you have heard me say racist things! Educate me, tell me!”
