Bobby Shmurda hopped on a private jet and called his mother this morning (Feb. 23) after finally being released from prison. The Brooklyn MC spent over six years behind bars stemming from a 2014 arrest and was welcomed home by Quavo, Rowdy Rebel and more.
Shmurda’s mother, Leslie Pollard, shared her joyful FaceTime conversation with the rapper on Instagram. On the call, Pollard can be heard exclaiming, “Oh my goodness, look at my baby! How are you? I miss you!”
Shmurda responds, “I’m coming to see you, ma!”
In the post’s caption, Pollard shared her excitement about her son’s return.
“There are no words to explain the JOY in my [heart],” she wrote. “God knows the way I Love my boys and I thank him for bringing them both back to me in one piece the same way they left. I am so overwhelmed and in [six] years [two] months and [five] days and 5.5 [hours] I finally feel like myself again. God is so good and we are truly BLESSED!!!!”
Around noon EST, Pollard shared another clip of Shmurda deboarding his jet.
“The way I am going to kiss this kid up and squeeze him trust it will be EPIC,” she wrote.
As reported by REVOLT, Pollard previously told TMZ that she planned an intimate family dinner to celebrate her son’s arrival. After Shmurda visits with friends and family, fans can expect him to get back into the studio, his mother said.
Shmurda was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2014 but was offered an early conditional release last month from New York’s Time Allowance Committee. After a judge denied him parole, the committee reversed the decision and awarded Shmurda a conditional release due to his good behavior and program participation in prison.
