DaBaby is letting it be known that he has no issues with 17-year-old Nickolodeon star JoJo Siwa.
On Friday (Feb. 19), the Charlotte native dropped his freestyle to SpotEmGottem’s viral single, “Beat Box.” Following the song’s release, the Blame It On Baby emcee was met with backlash for mentioning the young girl. “N*gga, you a bitch/ JoJo Siwa, bitch/ She let the wrong n*gga get rich,” he rhymed on the track. In the accompanying “Beatbox” video, he held up a photo of a smiling Siwa on his phone.
After laughing off the controversy, DaBaby took to Twitter to clear up the lyrics and let his fans know that he does not have an issue with the young star.
“@itsjojosiwa my 3-year-old princess is your number 1 fan,” he tweeted on Sunday (Feb. 21). “I bought her every product you have out. She think she you. Don’t let em trick you into thinking I’d ever have a problem with you. My word play just went over their heads. All love on my end shawty, Keep shining!”
On his Instagram Stories, he added, “Y’all MFs sick lol. Y’all ok w/ that child being tricked into thinking I got a problem with her, WE FUCK WIT YOU JOJO.”
Last year, DaBaby revealed his plans to retire from rap in the next five years so that he can focus on cultivating the careers of other artists. “Five years, I’ma be retired in five years,” he told XXL. “I won’t be rapping in five years. I won’t be rapping. I’ll be creating other superstars.”
In 2019, the “Rockstar” emcee started his own record label, Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment. The label has since become home to several signees, including Rich Dunk, Wisdom, KayyKilo, DJ K.i.D. and Stunna 4 Vegas. “Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment, five years, definitely gonna be like one of the hottest labels in the game,” he said.
