JAY-Z is offering words of advice to young children aspiring to be successful. The rapper recently spoke to Jazlyn a.k.a. Jazzy, an 11-year-old reporter from Brooklyn, who asked him to share a few tips for success with kids following her social media accounts.
“To all the kids that have dreams of being successful like you, what advice could you give them?” she inquired, to which Hov provided a response. “Believe in yourself, even before anyone else believes in you,” he said. “You’ve got to have ultimate confidence like you do. You’re very confident. And just believe in yourself,” he added, reiterating the first tip.
While Jazlyn has interviewed the likes of Nas, Kodak Black, Derek Jeter and NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo, it’s no secret why she interviewed Hov. The rapper successfully ventured into Hollywood and the world of business, investing and partnering with well-known companies while maintaining his position as one of rap’s GOATs. Recently, his contributions to music earned him a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
While delivering a heartfelt speech, Hov attributed his success to those who inspired or helped him along the way. Among those mentioned were Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, Chuck D, LL Cool J, his mother Dr. Gloria Carter, Dame Dash and Kareem “Biggs” Burke.
“Thank you to everyone in that video package, I’m definitely gonna cry in the car,” the Brooklyn native later penned on Twitter. “In my excitement, I failed to prize and acknowledge JAZ-O. He was the hometown hero that made the dream tangible,” he added in another tweet. “Thank you good man… ok let me lose this password for another year or so. Thank you all again, incredibly humbled by your love.”
