A source close to Teyana Taylor has denied reports that The Album singer’s Halloween party was targeted by armed robbers over the weekend. As reported by REVOLT, a costume party held at the Sunset Room in Hollywood on Saturday night (Oct. 30) was interrupted by gunfire after robbers attacked a group of women.
However, according to The Shade Room, a source close to Taylor denied the robbery took place at the party and said the incident actually occurred across the street. Furthermore, despite an initial report by TMZ, the source also said Taylor was not the host of the Halloween party and was instead paid to do a walk-through at the event.
“Promoters hired Teyana to do a walk-through at the event, but in no way was the party her Halloween party,” The Shade Room writes. “The source also shared that no one was pistol-whipped during the incident and the armed robbery took place across the street from the party.”
The outlet also reports that security guards working at the Sunset Room witnessed the robbery and fired warning shots into the air. The three armed assailants reportedly took off with two women’s purses after exchanging gunfire with the guards. No one was injured during the shootout, The Shade Room writes, but several parked cars were stuck with bullets.
Emergency responders were called to the scene, but the women involved in the attack reportedly refused medical care. As reported by REVOLT, Taylor attended the party with her husband Iman Shumpert. The couple dressed up as Wayne and Garth from the 1992 film Wayne’s World.
While a source close to Taylor disclosed the information to The Shade Room, the New York native herself has not publicly commented on the incident. Besides paying tribute to Wayne’s World with her husband, Taylor also wowed fans with her second Halloween costume as Madam Slay, a supervillainess from the Black Panther comics.
