Young Dolph passed away at a cookie store he recently promoted on social media. On Wednesday (Nov. 17), after fans learned of the rapper’s fatal shooting at the Makeda’s Cookie Shop in Memphis, Tennessee, many recalled the name of the location from a social media post.
The post was shared on the cookie shop’s Instagram account on Thursday (Nov. 11). “Young Dolph says every time he comes home he has to stop by Makeda’s Cookies,” read the caption of the video. In the clip, Dolph iterates a similar statement. “This is all I came for, to get some Makeda’s,” the rapper says before directing the cameraman to “get the sign.”
The camera then pans back to Dolph, who shows off a handful of chocolate chip cookies. “Straight out the oven!” he concludes before entering his vehicle.
As in the video, Young Dolph aka the King of Memphis, per the title of his debut album, often gave back to members of his hometown community. Fox 13 in Memphis said he was expected to assist the St. James Missionary Baptist Church as they pass out turkeys on Friday (Nov. 19). He’s also previously donated money to his alma mater Hamilton High School. Hence the reason the news of Dolph’s passing has rocked many in Memphis.
Reports say a massive crowd gathered at the scene of the crime as they mourned the loss of the “100 Shots” emcee. Celebrities in the hip hop community, who were also affected by Dolph’s death, took to social media to express their condolences.
“R.I.P. to my friend Dolph this broke my heart,” tweeted Gucci Mane.
“I am sooo sick rn I am in disbelief!” Megan Thee Stallion wrote on Twitter. “Praying for his family and friends! Rest In Peace to my friend a true legend Dolph.”
