Just months after the death of her biological mother, Keyshia Cole is now dealing with another loss — the passing of her adoptive father Leon Cole Jr.
On Sunday (Nov. 14), a fan tweeted the “Heaven Sent” singer their condolences, writing, “I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your father!! I’m praying for you and your family during this difficult time!!” Cole replied, “Thank you.” Earlier that day, Yvonne Cole, the singer’s adoptive mother, shared the news on Facebook that her husband had died. The statement read, “With a heart of sadness and sincere condolences, we solicit your prayers for Dr. Yvonne Cole and the Cole family in the passing of Mr. Leon Cole, Jr.”
The post revealed that Leon passed away due to COVID-19 complications. A few days prior to his death, Yvonne shared on Facebook that her husband was in the intensive care unit fighting for his life. She asked people to send their “support, love, well wishes and prayers of comfort and healing to Mr. Cole and his loved ones at this time.”
Back in July, Frankie Lons, Cole’s biological mother, passed away from an accidental overdose on her 61st birthday. The “I Should Have Cheated” vocalist took to Instagram to share throwback pictures of her and her mother over the years.
“This is so hard man. Can’t really even find the words. SMH,” Cole captioned the post. “I honestly don’t even know how to feel. You can never prepare for something like this… Ever!!! But you will be missed. It’s crazy because… For weeks I’ve been quoting you, from the goose that laid the golden egg, to calling Neffe shoes slow burners, cause they were bought scuffed up already… Your humor was unmatched!!! Naturally so funny, that’s what I loved about your personality… We all did.”
The REVOLT fam is sending our prayers and condolences to the Cole family as they deal with this tragic loss. Check out her tweet and the post from Yvonne below.
