Kanye West has shared his new hairstyle and fans have plenty to say. On Monday evening (Oct. 18), the Donda rapper debuted the new cut in an Instagram post, which included a photo of the back of his head. The 44-year-old appeared to have parts of his head shaved, while other areas remain untouched to create a design.
On Twitter, some fans speculated that the intricate hair pattern forms the word “Ye,” Kanye’s longtime nickname that he recently made his legal name, while others joked that the father of four gave his 8-year-old daughter North West a pair of clippers. Kanye captioned the Instagram post with the Japanese yen symbol.
Whatever the backstory for Ye’s new haircut is, it’s clear the Chicago native is entering a new era. Kanye performed this weekend at the star-studded wedding of Alexandre Arnault, who is the second oldest son of LVMH Chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault. Beyoncé and JAY-Z were among the event’s several famous attendees.
In the following days, Ye was spotted getting into the Halloween spirit as he dawned multiple full-faced masks at different airports. The “Hurricane” MC was photographed wearing a green face mask, Balenciaga jacket, black jeans and boots at an airport in Venice, and reportedly seen wearing a different human-looking mask at a New York airport.
As reported by REVOLT, a Los Angeles court recently approved Kanye’s request to legally change his name to Ye. According to Deadline, the rapper, who was born Kanye Omari West, no longer has a legal middle name or surname.
TMZ also reports that Kanye filed legal documents to trademark “Ye” for a new line of sanitary and fashion masks to stop the spread of COVID-19. According to the documents, Kanye’s mask line will include “sanitary masks for protection against viral infection” and “fashion masks.”
