Meek Mill has given up hope in America following the anarchy that occurred at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday (Jan. 6).
Amid the violent riots, the Dreamchasers emcee posted a photo of a Trump supporter in the building alongside the caption, “[The U.S.] might be the most racist country in the world …..lost hope seeing this today!!!!!! We about to take some 757’s to Africa give America a break!”
The Capitol Hill chaos saw advocates of Trump storming the usually-secured government building to challenge the certification of Biden’s presidential win. Videos surfaced of rioters smiling, using different parts the building as photo opps, taking selfies with police, but also clashing with law enforcement.
Despite the violence — which resulted in four deaths and over 50 arrests — many people, celebrities included, have mentioned that the actions taken toward the Trump supporters have fared in comparison to the treatment of people protesting in support of Black lives.
In a post on his personal Instagram account, Kevin Hart wrote, “[Two] completely different America’s that we are living in. If these people were black they would have all been shot dead. This shit is past the word sad… At this point it’s pure disrespect to all people of color.”
“Why can’t we see this situation handled the same way that we have seen our people handled repeatedly… when the armed officers are supposed to use force they don’t,” he continued. “Shit is fucking SAD!!!!!”
Cardi B took to Twitter to question the absence of National Guards who are typically called to monitor Black Lives Matter protests. “Where the National guards?” the Bronx rapper penned in a tweet. “The irony is pretty funny………Weren’t people just wild animals in the summer for demanding justice and now?……Let me just watch.”
Despite yesterday’s (Jan. 6) disturbance, Congress convened to count election votes and finally confirmed Biden’s victory as the forthcoming president of the United States.
