Over the weekend, DaBaby celebrated the end of a successful year and promised fans that he’s only getting started. After ringing in 2021, the North Carolina native hung out with Lil Wayne at his Miami studio and made a bold declaration about their statuses in the rap game.
“Best rappers alive,” DaBaby captioned a picture of himself with Tunechi, along with a goat emoji.
DaBaby also shared snapshots of himself and Wayne recording, alluding to a possible forthcoming collaboration. The pair last teamed up on Jack Harlow’s “What’s Poppin (Remix).”
Some commenters challenged DaBaby’s statement, while others saluted both rappers’ influence.
“Weezy F Baby and don’t forget DaBaby,” one fan wrote.
Besides their “What’s Poppin (Remix)” collaboration, DaBaby and Wayne also previously teamed up on a few cuts for Wayne’s album, Funeral. However, Mack Maine explained to Complex, the songs didn’t make the project due to clearance issues.
“We had two joints that didn’t make it that were just monsters,” Maine said at the time. “We had one with DaBaby, but we had some clearance issues. They should still be collabing soon, whether it’s on Wayne or DaBaby’s next album.”
Wayne’s next album could be the next installment in his Tha Carter series, which he’s previously said would arrive after his recently released No Ceilings 3 mixtape.
Elsewhere in DaBaby’s end-of-year posts, the “Practice” rapper also reflected on launching his Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment company.
“Changing lives & feeding families,” he wrote. “I thank God for giving me the vision to create something larger than me, a BRAND. STAY TUNED, it’s early… BET DA [house] on it!”
DaBaby also hung out with Diddy in Miami this weekend, captioning some a few photos, “Studied the greats a long time before I could share the room with em.”
