Kodak Black has issued a statement after Donald Trump granted him clemency during his final hours as president of the United States.

On Wednesday (Jan. 20), the “No Flockin’” emcee rook to Twitter to thank Trump and his fans for their support. “I Want To Thank The President @RealDonaldTrump For His Commitment To Justice Reform And Shortening My Sentence,” he wrote. “I Also Want To Thank Everyone For Their Support And Love. It Means More Than You Will Ever Know. I Want To Continue Giving Back, Learning And Growing.”

On Tuesday night (Jan. 19), Kodak was listed as one of the 143 people that Trump issued a pardon to. “President Trump granted a commutation to Bill Kapri, more commonly known as Kodak Black,” read a White House press release.

“Kodak Black is a prominent artist and community leader. This commutation is supported by numerous religious leaders, including Pastor Darrell Scott and Rabbi Schneur Kaplan,” the memo continued. The White House went on to list a number of charitable acts that the Florida native has been involved in.

“Before his conviction, and after reaching a success as a recording artist, Kodak Black became deeply involved in numerous philanthropic efforts,” the press release read. “In fact, he had committed to supporting a variety of charitable efforts, such as providing educational resources to students and families of fallen law enforcement officers and the underprivileged.”

The rapper will now be freed from prison after serving over a year in jail for falsifying information on federal forms to buy four firearms from a Miami gun shop on two separate occasions. Kodak was originally supposed to serve his 46-month prison sentence until 2022 after federal prosecutors denied his request to have his sentence reduced. He reportedly did not provide them with a valid reason as to why his time in prison should be lowered.
