Like many viewers, hip hop artists had strong reactions to Tuesday night’s (Sept. 29) presidential debate. Democratic nominee Joe Biden faced off against incumbent Donald Trump in the first of three debates ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

Taking to his Instagram Stories while tuning in, Frank Ocean urged his followers to vote and even updated his official website page to include voter registration resources.

“Debates are on. It all feels fake. The problem’s that it’s not,” the Blonde artist wrote. “Donald is president and might not leave the White House even if he loses the race so some say. Pls vote.”

“Watching him [get] dragged out will be way more entertaining than these debates,” Ocean added.

On Twitter, Chance the Rapper — who previously expressed interest in voting for Kanye West — gave his take.

“The entire country has to make a decision as to whether it will continue to downplay the fact that our President is an openly racist White Supremacist and what that means for its citizens, or… VOTE HIM OUT,” he wrote.

Cardi B, who has been active in the presidential elections since interviewing then-candidate Bernie Sanders, also shared several clips of the debate to her Instagram.

“I’m getting hot,” she captioned one. “TAG ME IN.”

During the debate, Trump answered moderator Chris Wallace’s call to condemn white supremacy by shifting the blame to left-wing supporters. When prompted to address the far-right and designated hate group Proud Boys, the POTUS told them to “stand back and stand by,” which they quickly reclaimed as a new slogan.

The next debate will be moderated by C-SPAN editor Steve Scully on Oct. 15 in Miami, Florida. After that, the final debate will take place on Oct. 22 in Nashville, Tennessee, moderated by NBC News’ Kristen Welker.
