On Wednesday (June 10), Fatman Scoop shared snippets from a recent virtual chat with Snoop Dogg, which found the West Coast rap veteran reflecting on his friendship with The Notorious B.I.G. During their talk, Snoop recalled a conversation he’d had with Biggie after the infamous shooting over coastal-rivalry songs, “New York, New York” and “L.A. L.A.”

“[Lil] Cease take me upstairs, Biggie is upstairs in a walker, like what the old people walk around in,” Snoop said. “He got the little walker sitting at the edge of the bed. And when I walk in the room, we started talking. And then he looked me in my eyes and he say something that, you know what I’m saying, he’s sad that Tupac is dead, but I can look in his eyes and I could see that he hurt. He didn’t even have to say it, I could see that he hurt, behind Tupac being dead.”

Snoop went on to explain that despite being career rivals, Notorious and Tupac were friends, and the New York legend was deeply saddened by his death.

“This is not a man that’s happy or glamorized,” he continued. “This is his friend that’s dead. They had a misunderstanding and he could never get no justice for his emotions, but he’s showing me his emotions, and he explained to me how much he loved Tupac.”

Snoop also revealed that he and Biggie ended up reconnecting later on in the studio while Biggie was recording “Somebody’s Gotta Die.” The Life After Death crafter name-drops Snoop in the record, commending his high-selling debut album, Doggystyle.

Elsewhere in their chat, Uncle Snoop speculated about what Tupac might be doing if he were alive today, explaining that the All Eyez On Me rapper would most likely be contributing to the current police reform movement with new protest anthems.
