Drake has broken yet another record.
On Friday (April 17), TMZ reported that Drake’s latest hit “Toosie Slide” hit “a 10-figure benchmark” on TikTok. The media outlet also noted that the hashtag #ToosieSlide garnered a billion views in two days. Prior to Drizzy earning the title, reality star Kylie Jenner held down the throne with her viral sensation, “Rise & Shine.”
As Drizzy’s fans might recall, he recently became the first male artist and second artist overall to have three songs debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
After learning the exciting news at the time, Drake shared his thoughts on Instagram. “From the chat to the charts. Billboard debut #1. Warm up ting,” he wrote alongside a post of him finalizing the dance concept.
During an interview with GQ, choreographer Toosie, reflected on his experience working with Drake. He explained, “[Drake] had a record idea and needed me to come up with a dance to it. “Everybody was contributing little moves, and slowly but surely, we started piecing it together … [Drake] fell in love with it. He was like, ‘Y’all are the greatest, man. This is it!’”
In addition to breaking records, Drake is also working on his follow-up album to Scorpion. While on Instagram Live with Sean “Diddy” Combs, the 33-year-old opened up about the music he created while practicing social distancing.
“I’m working on the album, I’ve been working on it for a while now,” he said. “And like I said, another silver lining is when God does get you to sit down—I remember the last time I had to sit down was when I tore my ACL and I made a great album out of that. Obviously, God has us all inside the house right now sitting down. So the amount of focus I’m able to put into this album is probably way different.”
