On the one-year anniversary of Nipsey’s Hussle’s tragic death, his girlfriend Lauren London reflected on his passing with a touching Instagram tribute.
“Time is deceptive, It’s been a year since you transitioned,” she wrote on Tuesday (March 31), captioning a photo of her and Nip at his The Marathon Clothing store. “The pain is as heavy today as it was a year ago. God knows I would give anything to see you again. I didn’t think I was going to survive a second of any of this. Prayers have kept me together. The kids keep me going and Gods Grace and Mercy have carried me this far.”
“As today makes a year, I stand strong because of you. Because I know you wouldn’t have it any other way,” her post continued. “Because I recall every late night conversation we had about resilience and fear. Because you were my greatest teacher and because you are still with us, in spirit.”
Elsewhere in her post, London promised to stay strong for the slain rapper and carry out his vision. Throughout the past year, she’s continued his legacy by accepting awards on his behalf, partnering with PUMA for his Marathon Clothing collaborated collection and launching construction to begin his Nipsey Hussle Tower.
“With every breath i take I honor you. I carry this pain with purpose,” she wrote. “I promise I will make you proud. I promise to apply everything you taught me. In life and in death. Ermias Asghedom. There will never be another. Until we are together again…. I love you beyond human understanding (but you know that already).”
Yesterday (March 31), several of hip hop’s elite also paid tribute to Nipsey on social media. DJ Khaled, Meek Mill, Snoop Dogg, T.I. and more shared photos and memories of the rapper, while reflecting on how his legacy has continued on a year after his death.
