DMX is prepping to release a new album.
The It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot rapper revealed the news during his appearance on Tory Lanez’s “Quarantine Radio” on Instagram Live. “I’m down in Nashville, I’m working on the album,” X told Lanez. Lanez then asked X to spit a line from the new album, but he declined.
X, who hasn’t released an album since Redemption of the Beast in 2015, signed a new deal with Def Jam and reconnected with Swizz Beatz last year. Swizz confirmed X’s new signing during an interview with “The Breakfast Club.”
“Just re-signed so it’s gonna be a good year for him, God willing. I just want it to happen so he can go to where he been supposed to have went,” Swizz said.
Swizz acknowledged that X had been off the scene for a bit because “he wasn’t in his right form.” However, the producer noted that his fans have remained loyal. “He missed a lot of time, but you know what, those people still show up to them shows,” Swizz added. “He does something different with them.”
After checking himself into rehab last October, X made a triumphant return to the stage for a performance in a Las Vegas nightclub.
According to TMZ, DMX hit Hakkasan Las Vegas Nightclub Sunday (Dec. 29) night where he performed a string of his biggest hits for fans. He arrived around 2 am with his crew and fiancee before he hit the stage and took photos with fans.
He also took a moment to stop and thank his fans during the performance. “When you fall down, get back up, everyone here has been through some shit and you never know what God is willing to do for you until you need him to do something for you,” he said.
