Cardi B is not one to hold back when it comes to speaking out on current issues happening in America. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper took to Instagram to speak up against people that have been making racist jokes towards Asians during the pandemic.
In the video she said, “Let’s stop being xenophobic. Let’s stop saying fucked up jokes. Let’s stop having crazy anger because I’ve been seeing a lot of Asians get beat up and all that shit.”
“At this moment in life right now for once let’s all be one race,” she continued. “Because at the end of the day, in the eyes of God, we are all one. And the more we’re nicer to each other, the more God will forgive us and the faster we get cured off this shit.”
Cardi also goes on to say that we can’t blame countries, like China, for Coronavirus spreading.
“At the end of the day we don’t know who’s lying,” she said. “The Chinese is saying that a country put that disease over there.”
She continued, “At the end of the day, let’s ask ourselves this. ‘Do we really want beef — do we really want smoke with China?’”
Since Coronavirus has spread globally, many people have exhibited forms of racism or xenophobia towards Asian people because the virus has been traced to originating in China.
Earlier this month, a man of Chinese ethnicity, was violently beaten while he was in London studying abroad. CNN said that the attack was racially motivated and stemmed from people being upset about Coronavirus spreading.
President Trump has also referred to the virus as the “Chinese virus” because he says the virus originated in China. Members of his administration have referred to the virus as the “Kung Flu.”
