According to a press release from Mac Miller’s family, two new songs will be added to a deluxe version of Circles later this month. The posthumous record will see the addition of songs “Right” and “Floating” and will be released as a CD on March 6. Circles (Deluxe) will be available to stream on March 20, followed by a vinyl edition, released on April 17.
Back in January, Miller’s family revealed that prior to his death, he had been working on Circles as a companion project to his 2018 Grammy-nominated album, Swimming.
“At the time of his passing, Malcom was well into the process of recording his companion album to Swimming, entitled Circles,” a statement from his family read. “Two different styles complimenting each other, completing a circle—Swimming in Circles was the concept.”
“He had been working with Jon Brion, who after hearing some early versions of songs, cleared his calendar to help Malcom fine-tune them,” the statement continued. “After his passing, Jon dedicated himself to finishing Circles based on his time and conversations with Malcom.”
Circles marked Miller’s first full-length posthumous release and his sixth studio album, following Swimming, The Devine Feminine, GO:OD AM, Watching Movies with the Sound Off and Blue Slide Park. The late rapper was also posthumously featured on Free Nationals’ self-titled debut album.
“We simply know that it was important to Malcom for the world to hear it,” the statement concluded. “Thank you to all of the fans who’ve supported him unconditionally through the years. We miss him. We are left to imagine where Malcom was going and to appreciate where he was. We hope you take the time to listen. The look on his face when everyone was listening said it all.”
Circles debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart in January, two years after his tragic passing.
