Kendrick Lamar is heading to the UK this summer as one of the headlining acts of the Glastonbury Festival. Glastonbury 2020, which will also mark the event’s 50th anniversary, will also feature performances from Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals, Burna Boy, Danny Brown, EarthGang, FKA Twigs, The Isley Brothers, Sampa the Great, Thundercat, Diana Ross and more.
Festival co-organizer Emily Eavis revealed the stacked lineup in an Instagram post on Thursday (March 12). According to her post, more artists will be announced this May.
“So, after much consideration given the current circumstances, and with the best of intentions, here is the first list of musical acts for Glastonbury 2020,” she wrote. “As things stand we are still working hard to deliver our 50th anniversary Festival in June and we are very proud of the bill that we have put together over the last year or so.”
“No one has a crystal ball to see exactly where we will all be 15 weeks from now, but we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed that it will be here at Worthy Farm for the greatest show on Earth!” her post continued. “As always this is just a taste of what is to come, we plan to announce many more artists and attractions, area by area, over the coming weeks leading up to the full line-up in May. In the meantime we post this with much love to all.”
The festival’s lineup is arriving at a time where tours and festivals are being postponed or canceled right and left, amidst fears surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. However, the Glastonbury Festival is set to take place on June 24 – 28, which should be safe seeing as Live Nation and other entertainment companies have recommended postponing events that are set to take place this month and in early April.
Kendrick is also set to perform at a few other European festivals this summer, including Sweden’s Lollapalooza. Most recently, the DAMN. rapper teamed up with Dave Free to launch their new company, pgLang.
