The hip hop world is still in shock after news surfaced that rapper Pop Smoke had been gunned down in his Hollywood Hills home. Jeezy is now coming forward urging black men to stop the violence and do better towards one another.
In the video Jeezy says, “Yo. We gotta do better man. What we doing? What we doing man? At the end of the day man we all kings. We not in the jungle. You ain’t gotta kill your brother to eat. Those days should be long behind us man.”
He continues, “They print money everyday, everyday. Apply yourself. We gotta do better. We kings, baby let’s be kings. We gotta get it together man. We just lost Nipsey to some ignorance and we back here again. Come on man. I’m rooting for you. I wanna see all y’all win. Everybody.”
Rappers have come forward warning young people about the dangers of the rap game. 2 Chainz has shared how many times he’s been in harm’s way since becoming a rapper.
He shared an image that read, “Success is Dangerous You sure you want this Sh*t.” In the caption of the post, he wrote, “Been shot at in San Fran, got arrested in Maryland, La, New York and Oklahoma, had a so call stand off with police in Oklahoma,” he wrote. “Cali spot got broken into 4 times all on tape and one of them even left they phone ALL SINCE I BEEN A “RAPPER” you literally gotta Pray that you make it back home safe !! But then you not even safe at home.. my condolences.”
Pop’s murder is still under investigation, but authorities believe he was targeted. According to surveillance footage, four suspects wearing masks approached Pop’s home. Three of the four men, which authorities have described as wearing hoodies and masks, reportedly returned to the home’s front door. The fourth suspect does not appear again on video until he’s seen exiting from the front door, which suggests he broke into the home from a back entrance.
Multiple shots were fired inside the home, but only Pop was hit. The suspects were not seen carrying any items out of the house, which refutes initial reports that this was a robbery. So far, there have been no arrests made.
