Currently rolling out singles ahead of her debut album Suga, Megan Thee Stallion stopped by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” for a sizzling performance of her project cut, “B.I.T.C.H.” Backed by two cowboy hat-wearing dancers, the Houston-bred rapper dressed in red lingerie and heated up the stage as only a true Hot Girl can.
The Helluva Beats-produced track interpolates Tupac’s 1996 single, “Rather Be Ya Ni**a,” which Megan discussed in an interview with Beats 1.
“I had hit my A&R and I’m like, ‘I wanna remake ‘Rather Be Ya Ni**a’ by Tupac,’” she said. “I wrote a little bit of it on the plane and then I wrote the rest of it in my next hotel room in the next state and boom, I literally just went to record it in Vegas like the next week after that.”
“Like all these new experiences that I’m having— like, you know, boyfriend issues. Just like everything, anything inspires me,” she continued. “So definitely I was like, ‘You know what? This what I’m going through this week. I’m gonna turn up. I’m gonna write a song.’”
“B.I.T.C.H.” marked the first offering from Megan’s forthcoming debut album. So far, she’s confirmed SZA as a feature on the record and revealed Pharrell and Juicy J as producers.
“My friend SZA, she pulled up on me in the studio, because we have a song that’s gonna be on my album too, and it was so fire making that song with her,” she told Beats 1. “Juicy J produced it. We know I love Juicy J. So yeah, we got a lot of bangers on that album.”
Juicy and Megan last worked together on Fever’s “Simon Says.”
“I’m working on my album and I definitely just really appreciate good music. And Pharrell is just somebody that you know knows good music,” she said of working with Pharrell. “We locked in the studio for about four days and we got some fire.”
Suga is expected to arrive later this year. Catch Megan’s “B.I.T.C.H.” performance on “The Tonight Show” below.
