Man on the Moon III: The Chosen is almost upon us. On Monday (Dec. 7), Kid Cudi finally gave fans a release date for the highly anticipated project, as well as its cover art, tracklist and a suspenseful new trailer. Man on the Moon III arrives this Friday (Dec. 11) and will feature the late Pop Smoke, Skepta, Phoebe Bridgers and Trippie Redd.
“In the last 10 years, Scott Mescudi has been through hell and back,” the album’s cover art reads. “After feeling like his world was over, he found hope and overcame the darkness that was plaguing his life.”
“But happiness isn’t forever,” it continues. “What he thought was peace turns into a nightmare. He finds himself lost, dealing with the same pain he had not felt in years. In one night, he must face himself again and fight to win back his soul from the evil Mr. Rager.”
The message notes that the record will also see “epic production” from Dot Da Genius, TakeADayTrip, Plain Pat, Emile Haynie and Mike Dean.
The Chosen will mark an end to Cudi’s famed trilogy, which started with 2009’s Man on the Moon: The End of Day. The Cleveland native followed-up that effort one year later with Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager.
Earlier this year, Cudi returned with his singles “Leader of the Delinquents,” “The Scotts” with Travis Scott and “The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady” featuring Eminem — none of which will appear on his album.
Last month, Cudi joined forces with Bron Studios to launch his new production and music management company, Mad Solar.
“Beyond excited to be launching my production company Mad Solar and partnering with Bron, whose creative vision and storytelling has transformed the industry,” he announced in a statement. “I am so very proud of the slate that we are developing and can’t WAIT for you all to see what we got cookin’.”
