Singer Michelle Williams is mourning the loss of her father, Dennis Williams, who sadly passed away this past weekend at the age of 68.
On Sunday night (Dec. 20), the Destiny’s Child songstress took to Instagram to announce the heartbreaking news. “I just don’t know what to say or where to start,” she captioned a throwback photo of her father. “Daddy, you fought harder than those of us that are in good health! For 15 years, you FOUGHT!!! You truly outlived moments where we thought you wouldn’t make it!! Mommy said last night she sang songs to you and you looked so content and had a look of peace in your eyes.”
She continued, “You weren’t in any pain either!! The Lord took you in his arms this morning and I’m so thankful that you are resting in Him!!! I love you Daddy!!!! Nov. 13, 1952- Dec. 20, 2020.”
Tina Knowles-Lawson, who used to work as a stylist for Destiny’s Child, shared some words of encouragement to Williams. “My Belle, I am so sorry!!! Your dad was a true warrior,” she wrote. “Yes, he is resting now and is with your beloved granny. I am so glad we had the time together in Hawaii and that we talked for an hour last night. We love you so much.”
Next May, the “Say Yes” singer is set to release a memoir titled, “Checking In: How Getting Real About Depression Saved My Life — and Can Save Yours.” In the biography, she plans to open up about her experiences with anxiety and depression and how therapy has helped her through it all.
“When it’s untreated or you don’t get to the root of things, anxiety and depression can possibly rob you of the very things you work hard for and are praying for,” Williams told Essence. “Things are treatable, fixable and manageable. You just have to be willing to do the work and really face the pain and lean into it. You gotta touch it, you have to.”
The REVOLT team would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Williams and her family during this difficult time. Check out her post below.
