Cardi B is a renowned rapper who has tried her hand at retail, stripping, reality television and acting, but there is still so much more that the Bronx native desires to explore. Fortunately, fans will get to watch her as she steps into the shoes of a few more professionals in her newly-launched Facebook series.
As Deadline reported, “Cardi Tries ___” — a Jesse Collins Entertainment and Facebook Messenger production — will document the “WAP” rapper as she takes a crack at becoming an expert stunt car racer, ballerina, firefighter and teacher among other things. The new show will feature guest appearances from Offset, Debbie Allen, Damian Lillard and a few other experts who she taps with hopes to experience a day in their lives.
Cardi is no stranger to the small screen. The star was a judge on Netflix’s “Rhythm + Flow” competition show, and she appeared on two seasons of VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop New York” before her career took off with the release of her “Bodak Yellow” single.
As REVOLT previously reported, Chris Rock noticed that Cardi was made for TV early on in her career, and even tried to get the emcee her own comedy show.
“My kids showed me this Cardi B girl, and she didn’t have a record out or anything, and I was like, ‘We should do a show with her.’ I’m not even gonna say what network,” Rock previously told Jimmy Fallon. “So me, Cardi B and her management went to get a show going, and it never happened. She told me about her rap at the time, and I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, that’s good. You’re a comedy star.’”
Cardi’s eight-episode series launches today (Dec. 17) and will drop every Thursday until Feb. 4. It is a part of Facebook and Instagram’s Watch Together initiative that allows viewers to watch the show in real-time alongside their family and friends. The Invasion of Privacy rapper serves as an executive producer of the show alongside Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, Patientce Foster and showrunner Todd Yasui.
