As Election night (Nov. 3) continues to progress, tensions are rising as the American people await the results of the 2020 presidential election. Millions of votes are still being counted and probably won’t be completed until the morning — if not days from now.

With this wait, which includes people experiencing all types of emotions possible, a large group of anti-Trump protesters decided to head to the White House to express their distaste for the current commander-in-chief, as well as their hopes to have him get fired from his job.

The demonstrators all gathered on Lafayette Square, which is right across the street from the White House, and held a large signs that read “REMOVE TRUMP” and “TRUMP LIES ALL THE TIME.” There were also a number of smaller signs that had similar anti-Trump messaging.

The Hill reports: “Lafayette Square was the site of a heavily criticized removal of demonstrators earlier this year by law enforcement including U.S. Park Police, when tear gas and smoke bombs were used to drive crowds out of the park so that President Trump could take part in a photo op at a nearby church.”

As many can recall, that incident was used by Trump for an ad for his presidential campaign, which caused much backlash.

The political publication continues: “One male was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, crossing a police line and resisting arrest according to a spokesperson for D.C. Metropolitan Police.”

NBC adds that police arrested three protesters at the scene when law enforcement and demonstrators began to clash.

In other Election Day news, New Jersey made history by voting to legalize the adult-use, possession and sale of recreational marijuana. On top of that big announcement, Senator Cory Booker of Jersey and Senator Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez aka AOC of New York have been re-elected in Congress.
