A friendship seems to be brewing between Kanye West and DaBaby. The Yeezy founder shared a screenshot of a text conversation between himself and the “Rockstar” rapper on Twitter on Saturday (Oct. 18).
In the screengrab, it seems like the Jesus Is King rapper was the one who reached out to DaBaby to express his gratitude to the rapper for his recent support, as well as hinted that a possible music collaboration might be happening between the two in the near future.
“Yooooo it’s Ye. Thank you for everything bro,” West wrote in the first text message.
The “Suge” rapper responded saying that he has been a fan since the fellow rapper’s third studio album Graduation. “Nah. Thank you! Been inspired. Still inspired! Since graduation,” he wrote.
The Grammy winner replied: “Praise God. We [fine] go crazeeee bro.”
DaBaby then wrote: “Have that back to ya TONIGHT!”
The pair have been exchanging messages with each other on Twitter since August, with DaBaby even catching heat from fans in August for saying that he was voting for West for president in the upcoming election in November.
“Ima let y’all finish… But you got me f—d up [if] you think I ain’t voting for Ye,” he wrote at the time.
The announcement came after a complimentary Twitter exchange between the two rappers after West tweeted out DaBaby’s signature “Let’s go!” ad-lib. “Lesssgoooooooooooo,” he wrote followed by, “Da baby ad lib by the way.” DaBaby retweeted the shoutout and added: “Use the ‘let’s gooo’ adlib at your own risk. It makes you unstoppable.”
Regardless of whom he is voting for, the Grammy-nominated rapper is doing his part in helping his community exercise their right to vote. He hosted a family event called “VOTE BABY VOTE” on Oct. 5 to help people in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina register to vote.
“Now more than ever, it is important for us to get to the polls and make sure that our voices are heard,” he said when he announced the event earlier this month. “The 1st step is to register. Then, vote baby vote!”
The emcee is also partnering with with Lyft to offer free rides to Charlotte residents to the polls on Election Day. Fans can use code “VOTEWITHDABABY” to get free transportation to a nearby polling site.
