Sharon Osbourne announcing Best Rap /Sung Performance in her British accent was peak entertainment at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
“Ozzy and I have been rapping together for about 50 years,” she began, with her husband Ozzy Osbourne at her side. “So we’re just the perfect couple to announce the Grammy for Best Rap / Sung Performance.”
From there, Sharon listed the category’s nominated artists, which included “Higher” by DJ Khaled, Nipsey Hussle and John Legend, “Drip Too Hard” by Lil Baby and Gunna, “Panini” by Lil Nas X, “Ballin” by Mustard and Roddy Ricch and “The London” by Young Thug, J. Cole and Travis Scott.
Khaled’s “Higher” won the Grammy, marking Nipsey’s second posthumous award of the night (Jan. 26). The Victory Lap rapper was also posthumously awarded for Best Rap Performance for his Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy-featuring “Racks in the Middle.” Both Legend and Khaled used their speeches to pay tribute to their late collaborator, who they also honored during a special performance earlier that night, which had included Meek Mill, YG, Roddy Ricch and more.
Laughter ensued over Sharon’s mispronunciations and accent across the Los Angeles Staples Center, where it carried over to Twitter.
“Ya’ll gotta have Sharon Osbourne host the BET Awards I’m CRINE,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Sharon Osbourne is only allowed to say rappers name from here on out,” another tweeted.
Viewers found the most delight in Sharon naming off DJ Khaled and her pronunciation of Lil Baby and Gunna’s song, “Drip Too Hard.”
“Give Sharon Osbourne an hour-long television show where she just happily reads rap song titles,” one person wrote.
“Sharon Osbourne reading off Rap/Sung nominees is actually lifting my spirit,” tweeted another Twitter user.
