Rihanna may not have released her newest album yet, but she is releasing a Valentine’s Day Savage X Fenty lingerie collection.
The capsule collection will be the first-ever celebrity collaboration for the brand. Adam Selman, the designer responsible for Rih’s CFDA awards naked dress, was confirmed to collab with the singer on her sexy VDay lingerie line.
Adam Selman for Savage X Fenty launched yesterday (Jan. 1) and will have additional drops through April. Sizing for the launch ranges from 32A to 42DD and XS to 3X, while prices are between $16 and $84. You can purchase the pieces on SavageX, Amazon, ASOS, and Zalando.
“I couldn’t imagine anyone other than Adam [Selman] for Savage X Fenty’s first designer collaboration,” Rihanna said in a statement. “Adam is everything the brand stands for – fun, playful, sexy.”
Selman spoke to In Style about how the collaboration came about. “I saw Rihanna, and when we went in for a hug, she whispered in my ear, ‘You have to do Savage X with me. I was like, ‘Ok, sure.’ We went about our business, and a few days later, she texted me like, ‘No, I’m serious. You have to do a collaboration with us.’”
The designer then spoke about his inspiration for the line. He said, “I wanted to do something that was still in the spirit of Savage X Fenty, but give them an offering they didn’t have already. I really pushed into sexy ‘80s cuts, and was inspired by ‘80s lingerie and Frederick’s of Hollywood. I wanted to keep it cheeky and playful, so I added hearts, and ruffles, and a topless babydoll dress. I went almost as girly and lovey, lovey, lovey as possible, and then I made it super sexy to counteract that.”
Selman also spoke about the campaign for the line. “Rihanna had a lot of input on the inspiration and what she wanted it to look like. By that point, it was fun to sit back and let that happen. She chose Joan Smalls, Paloma Elessler, Adesuwa, and Fiffany to be in it. I showed up and I’m like, ‘Holy shit, wow.’ Dream girls. And many of them are friends, too. It felt like a natural, easy part. It was a cherry on top,” he said.
