Almost as soon as Revenge of the Dreamers III was released, fans have murmured about the potential of a deluxe version. Speculation was mostly fueled by Dreamville Records co-founder and J. Cole’s manager, Ibrahim Hamad.
“That Revenge Deluxe still coming too,” Hamad tweeted back in November. “Don’t think we forgot.”
Now, thanks to a tweet from Cole, Revenge of the Dreamers III Deluxe is officially confirmed and expected to drop tonight at 9 p.m. EST (Jan. 16).
Cole hopped on Twitter on Wednesday (Jan. 15) to share the extended LP’s tracklist.
“Revenge DELUXE drops 1/16 @ 9pm,” the Dreamville head wrote. “Squadddddddd.”
The deluxe version tacks on an additional 12 songs, seeing features from J.I.D., EarthGang, Reason, Bas, Cozz, Omen, Buddy, Landstrip Chip, Saba, Smino, The Hics, Ari Lennox, Buddy, Mez, Guapdad 4000, Vince Staples, Dreezy, Childish Major, Lute and 6LACK. Project cuts “Still Up” by EarthGang and Reason and Ari Lennox’s “Bussit” were released earlier this week in a two-song packet titled 1/16.
Revenge of the Dreamers III was released last year and featured contributions from Cole, DaBaby, EarthGang, J.I.D., Yung Baby Tate, Guapdad 4000, Lute, Omen, Cozz, Young Nudy, Ty Dolla $ign, Ari Lennox and many more. The 18-track record is currently nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2020 Grammy Awards. Revenge of the Dreamers’ first installment arrived in 2014, followed by a sequel project in 2015.
Days before Dreamville released Revenge of the Dreamers III, the label put forth a 30-minute documentary that detailed the inner makings of the project, including the exclusive 10-day recording sessions held at Georgia’s Tree Sounds Studios.
“Bro, I don’t wanna look back 20 years from now and be like, ‘Yo, I never worked with nobody. I never had no fun, etc,’” Cole said in the video. “I had this idea, let’s go somewhere, lock in, invite a bunch of outside producers and artists, ‘Come fu*k with it.’ Just make this album.”
Stay tuned for Revenge of the Dreamers III Deluxe, out tonight at 9 p.m. EST (Jan. 16).
