We are now learning more about what that led up to the untimely death of Chicago rapper, Juice WRLD.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the “Lucid Dreams” rapper suffered the seizure as federal agents were searching through all of the luggage that arrived with him and his entourage on his private plane. The report states that the officers and agents had been awaiting his plane’s arrival at Chicago’s Midway Airport because they suspected the 21-year-old rapper was carrying contraband.
As they were going through his luggage, sources said the rapper began “convulsing (and) going into a seizure.” An agent administered two doses of Narcan, a drug treatment that is used when an opioid overdose is suspected. Juice WRLD reportedly woke up, but was incoherent. Police asked his girlfriend if he had any medical issues or had ingested any drugs. She said that he did not have any medical conditions, but that he “takes Percocet and has a drug problem.” He was transported to the Advocate Christ Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
As for the search, police found 41 vacuum sealed bags of marijuana, six bottles of prescription codeine cough syrup, two 9 mm pistols, a .40-caliber pistol, a high-capacity ammunition magazine and bullets. Two of Juice WRLD’s bodyguards were arrested with illegally possessing the guns and ammunition. They have since been released, as they had valid permits to conceal and carry. So far, no drug charges have been filed.
The hip-hop community continues to mourn Juice WRLD’s loss. Chance The Rapper posted, “He knows our hearts. I really wish we had more talks like that one night in LA. Dude. This is ridiculous. Millions of people, not just in Chicago but around the world are hurting because of this and don’t know what to make of it. Im sorry. Love you and God bless your soul. #legend.”
Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Juice WRLD’s family and friends.
