Yesterday (Dec. 29), Kanye West held a Sunday Service at Los Angeles’ Skid Row. The Jesus Is Born rapper celebrated the one-year anniversary of his weekly services at Union Rescue Mission, a homeless shelter that offers food and spiritual guidance to those in need.
In a video acquired by TMZ, West appears to defend T.I.’s comments about regularly going with his teenage daughter to the doctor to do hymen checks.”
“I ain’t tellin nobody what to do, I’m expressin’ what I’ve been through. ‘Cause you know people love to take a soundbite and say, ‘This was not exactly devil-approved by the internet,” West says in the video clip.
He continued, “They tryna play T.I., but he’s talkin’ about somethin’ that’s God-approved.” The statement is met with silence from the audience.
T.I. was publicly condemned after he said that he regularly goes to gynecologist appointments with his 18-year-old daughter Deyjah. The rapper apparently wanted to make sure that her hymen was still intact, along with her virginity.
“Have I? This is the thing. Deyjah’s 18, just graduated high school now and she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself,” Tip said when the “Ladies Like Us with Nazanin and Nadia” podcast hosts asked if he’s had the sex talk with his daughters. “And yes, not only have we had the conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen.”
“So it’s this one time we go, I think this might have been after her 16th birthday. This is what we do. Right after the birthday we celebrate,” he continued. “Usually like the day after the party she’s enjoying her gifts. I put a sticky note on the door: ‘Gyno. Tomorrow. 9:30.’ So we’ll go and sit down and the doctor will come and talk and the doctor’s maintaining a high level of professionalism. He’s like, ‘You know sir, I have to, in order to share information’ — I’m like, ‘Deyjah they want you to sign this so we can share information. Is there anything you wouldn’t want me to know? See doc? No problem.’”
Tip says that the doctor has informed him that hymen checking is not a proven way to test for virginity, but he still requires it.
