After postponing several 2020 dates, Chance the Rapper has officially taken The Big Tour off the books. Chance announced he’d be shelving part of the tour back in September, due to the birth of his second daughter. However, on Sunday (Dec. 15), the Chicago-bred rapper took to Instagram to announce that he’d be canceling the tour completely.
“Hey guys I’ve decided to cancel the Big Tour,” he wrote. “I know it sucks and its been a lot of back and forth with reschedules and rerouting, but it’s for the best. I’m gonna take this time to be with family, make some new music and develop my best show to date.”
Despite the fact that there will be no Chance tour anytime soon, the rapper did promise his fans a “stronger and better” 2020.
“I’m deeply sorry to anyone with a ticket who has supported me this past decade by coming to a show and rocking out with me and I feel even worse for anyone who was planning on making this their first Chance concert,” he continued. “Thank you all for an amazing year, and a huge thanks to my team and family for being so strong through this whole year. I promise to come back much stronger and better in 2020 and hope to see some of you guys there.”
Chance and his wife Kirsten Corley Bennett welcomed their second child, Marli, in August. The couple also share a 4-year-old daughter named Kensli.
Many fans and rap colleagues were supportive of Chance’s decision, commenting on his post that family comes first.
The Big Tour was initially in support of Chance’s debut studio album, The Big Day, which arrived this July. The 22-track record featured contributions from Nicki Minaj, Lil Durk, Shawn Mendes, Randy Newman, Calboy, Gucci Mane, Megan Thee Stallion, Ari Lennox, Taylor Bennett, John Legend, DaBaby, MadeinTYO and more.
