PartyNextDoor took to Twitter to casually announce the arrival of his next full-length project.
“Album in January,” he wrote on Sunday (Nov. 24).
The announcement arrives after PND released two new singles on Friday (Nov. 22), “Loyal” featuring OVO boss Drake and “The News.”
“I just want to say thank you to the fans and everyone that has been supporting,” he wrote on Twitter. “Just found out Loyal is #1 on Apple Music.”
Throughout his career, PND has successfully collaborated with Drake, dating all the way back to debut self-titled EP in 2013.
“I openly share music with Drake, especially when it’s time for him to have a project,” he told The New York Times back in 2016, after releasing PartyNextDoor 3. “We have similar stories, but not the same story. Being a fan got me to him, but he needs me to be me. I need to be me.”
“It’s just creatives cooking,” he continued. “If he sees something in a song of mine that he feels he can spin around and make better, who am I to say I’m going to selfishly keep it? As a fan of music, that’s wrong… Of course I want to be a superstar, but it doesn’t happen overnight, and I see that from having a mentor.”
Before releasing his two new singles, PND had only shared a cryptic Instagram post, which he had captioned, “Friday.” Following in his typical succinct fashion, the new album-announcing tweet ensures that there will be even more PND music arriving next year.
Fans quickly responded to the news, with the tweet garnering over 180,000 likes in less than a day. PND fans do have a reason for being so excited, though, because it’s been years since the artist last released a project— two years since his last EPs, Seven Days and Colours 2, and three years since his last album, PartyNextDoor 3. However, the OVO crooner did appear on Summer Walker’s debut album, Over It, earlier this year.
