Method Man is getting into the Thanksgiving spirit by planning a food drive in his home borough of Staten Island. Page Six reports that the Wu-Tang Clan member, along with the K Woods Foundation and Have A Heart NY, will provide families in the Park Hill neighborhood and Staten Island, New York area with food and warmth this season.
“The event is designed to help families who are in need of assistance,” a press release for the event read.
Method Man and the event’s organizers plan to give away 500 coats and 200 turkeys this Saturday (Nov. 23) from 12 to 3 p.m. EST. The drive will take place at P.S. 57 School, located at 140 Palma Dr. in Staten Island.
This isn’t the first time the legendary MC has given back to his community, as he visited sick patients at the Staten Island University Hospital back in January.
In other Method Man news, the rapper recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of his debut album, Tical, by releasing a new video for his Street Life and Havoc-featuring “Squad Up.”
Wu-Tang also celebrated the 25ht anniversary of their album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) this year. On Sunday (Nov 17), MassLive reported that Wu-Tang will be forever commemorated with a theme park in Seoul, Korea, that’s currently being planned by the vice-president of the group’s management, Jimmy Kang.
“[My father] always told me, if you’re going to do something, do it to your fullest potential, don’t half-ass it or you’re just wasting time,” Kang said.
REVOLT caught up with the mega-group about their live performances, which are still iconic to this day.
“People are never worried about the lights, cameras, and action when Wu-Tang comes on the stage. When we come and do a show, y’all leave sweated up,” Raekwon said. “We don’t need all the fire behind us. We did that before, but that’s not us. We come from the staircase with it. We’re like filter water. We turn dirty water into clean water when we come around. When people hear it, it’s just organic rap.”
