After being arrested for assault by strangulation in Georgia last week, YK Osiris is once again a free man. According to Fulton County Jail records, the R&B singer was released on $150,000 surety bond on Saturday (Nov. 9).
Osiris was initially denied bail after being arrested last Monday (Nov. 4) in Fulton County, GA. The 2019 XXL Freshman faces felony charges of aggravated assault by strangulation for allegedly attacking his girlfriend during his birthday party back in September. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported that Osiris’ girlfriend accused the singer of chasing her up the stairs, choking her and biting her face.
The incident allegedly took place after the she confronted Osiris about a photo on his phone of a barely-clothed woman. She also alleged that Osiris threatened her, saying, “I am going to slap the sh*t out of you.” Fulton County police confirmed that the woman had a prominent mark under her left eye, which is where she claims Osiris bit her.
After being released, Osiris posted a video to his Instagram Live. The “Worth It” singer can be seen hanging out of a car, smiling and singing along to Akon’s “Locked Up.”
Last month, Osiris released his debut album, The Golden Child. The record features Tory Lanez, Ty Dolla $ign, Kehlani, Russ and Jah Vinci.
The 21-year-old singer was recently embroiled in an R&B-related beef with Jacquees over the coveted genre crown title. In an outspoken Rolling Stone interview, Osiris claimed that he’s ranked higher than his R&B up-and-coming counterpart, Jacquees, and that nobody listens to Bryson Tiller.
Tory Lanez weighed in on the king of R&B debate during an interview with Rap-Up last week.
“I think everybody’s a king in their own right. I think there’s this common misconception that somebody shouldn’t say something that’s too big,” he said. “Are people supposed to limit themselves? Are you supposed to want to be number two?”
A date for YK Osiris’ upcoming court hearing has not yet been released.
