Just as the summer months arrived earlier this year, Saweetie unleashed her Pretty Summer Playlist to kick off the party. One of the fan-favorites included in the compilation is by Kendra Jae, her real life best friend. Today (Aug 20), the two team up to release the official music video for the song, which is directed by Slater and features Dreamville’s very own Cozz starring as the love interest. On the track, Kendra opens up with her lyrics about the realities of going back and forth:
Love me, love me not, either way, they always come right back/ Fuck me, n***a, prolly not, no, I don’t even see you like that no more/ But that’s on you, ‘cause I would’ve never turned my back on you, got the racks on you, shit I got racks too/
I ain’t need you, but them broke hoes do/ I know I love too fast, saw them damn red flags/ But I still can’t help, but to free fall, and when shit get bad, I get in my bag/ But I thought you’d be the one that I could lean on
Kendra Jae is embarking on her journey as a recording artist, but has already achieved much success in the entertainment world as a professional dancer. She celebrated her first professional accomplishment as the youngest dancer on Beyoncé’s “Formation World Tour.” She would then go on to tour with Drake for his “Aubrey and the Three Migos World Tour.” Since shared the stage with the likes of Gwen Stefani, Janelle Monae, Tyga, Dua Lipa, and many more. Kendra’s skillset is also included in some of the biggest recent hits today, receiving choreography credit for Chloe x Halle’s award-nominated music video “Do It” and Saweetie’s “My Type.”
