Just last week, Dallas’ very own Trapboy Freddy unleashed his Distractions mixtape. Today (Aug 12), he rides the momentum of the project release by dropping off his official video for “Freddy.” The song is an ode to the rapper’s namesake and includes an assist from 300 head honcho Young Thug. On the track, Thugger takes care of the opening hook as he rides the beat courtesy of Pi’erre Bourne:
Now I can see why they scary (Why?), everything ‘bout me Freddy/ Karats in the chain get scary (Scary), karats in my ring big scary (Scary)/ I poured a red in a cherry, actavis, makin’ it berry/ I serve a pack and be ready (Ready), or I can call Trapboy Freddy (Woo)
Yeah, serve all the syrup, quick, pop all the Roxies, jet to the land, we poppin’ (Jet to the)/ See you in Atlanta, no tropics (In the land), I’ma fuck a nurse in crops and every single drink got tox’ in it
For the aforementioned Distractions tape, the Oakcliff native teamed up with fellow Dallas-bred rappers Hotboy Star, Young Nino, Smurf Franklin and Yella Beezy. He also tapped in with Lakeyah for “Buss It Open” which features a subtle nod to Dallas legend Lil Wil in the lyrics and track name. Prior to all this were his 2020 projects Big Trap and I’m My Brother’s Keeper.
In terms of other recent collabs from Young Thug, he joined Lil Gotit for his music video for “Playa Chanel” and can also be heard on recent albums like Mariah The Scientist’s RY RY WORLD and IDK’s USEE4YOURSELF. In June, Thugger and his Young Stoner Life collective liberated the second installment of their Slime Language series, which sees 23 tracks and a wealth of assists from Travis Scott, Drake, Rowdy Rebel, Lil Uzi Vert, Coi Leray, Big Sean, Skepta, Future, Yung Bleu, Kid Cudi, Meek Mill, and loads more.
