Ant Clemons continues to his ascent into R&B’s stratosphere — today (July 30), he drops off a new single titled “Appreciation,” which features assistance from 2 Chainz and Ty Dolla $ign. Produced by Sergio Romero, the genre-bending cut sees the artists harmonizing and rapping about about patronizing and enjoying good, debaucherous times with women:
“You can throw them fits, I’ma throw a couple dollars, Balenci’s ain’t your style, you look better off in Prada, rollin up that Mary J, you ain’t with no drama, all of that ass you got it from your momma, sit it on top of me if you a rider, ’cause I love how you ride it, yeah, yeah, ooh, ooh, woo, ooh, you need that Vogue front page, give you that long stroke wave when I get you backstage…”
Possessing talents both as a singer and songwriter. Clemons has been building his brand for the last few years, crafting top quality cuts alongside the likes of Luke James, Jeremih, Camila Cabello, and Beyoncé. He quickly found himself within the throws of Kanye West’s machine back in 2018, subsequently providing his talents to Ye and the now-defunct Yandhi — the latter of which turned into Ye’s follow-up Jesus Is King. He also joined West and The World Famous Tony Williams as one of the leads in the now well-known Sunday Service Choir.
Last year, Clemons liberated his debut project HAPPY TO BE HERE, an 8-track offering with contributions from Pharrell Williams, Ty$, and Timbaland. A year later, the New Jersey native would update HAPPY TO BE HERE with an Anniversary Edition, adding on the reflective track “June 1st.” Since then (and in addition to “Appreciation), Clemons released loose singles like “Freak,” “Better Days” with Justin Timberlake, “Story Of My Life,” and “Section” with Kehlani.
Enjoy “Appreciation.”
