Just a few weeks ago (June 23), TOBi tapped in with Baby Rose to deliver his “Come As you Are” single. He now follows up with another collab, this time for his “Off The Drugs” track with an assist from Mick Jenkins. The similar cover art theme suggest a project is landing sooner than we think. On the track, TOBi starts it off with words that come to mind during a trip:
Caught me slipping, I was sipping bourbon, unfamiliar feelings, it’s that liquid courage/ For every brave heart lies a coward lurking, far from perfect, n***as wishy-washy/ Death and taxes only things certain
Speaking of I paid mines through, what you doing for the night? She said, “You”/ I said, “Quit playing games, slide through”, Hopeless romance, I throw my hands up, been in my bag, three nights alone, she held me for ransom/ We getting throwed like a tantrum
TOBi dropped off multiple projects last year, including ELEMENTS Vol. 1, STILL+, and the original STILL. As far as recent singles go, there’s the aforementioned “Come As You Are,” as well as “Don’t Touch!,” “Family Matters” featuring Flo Milli, and “Made Me Everything Pt 2” featuring Maxo Kream.
Most recently, Mick Jenkins dropped off his attention-garnering “Truffles” music video on June 23. So far this year, we’ve heard a slew of features from Jenkins. These tracks include “SUPER8” with CANCEL CULTURE and Meltycanon, “Kill Me” with Daichi Yamamoto, “Teriyaki” with Nate Husser, “Sleep” with Markis Precise, “Don’t Need You (Remix)” with Genesis Owusu, and “royal flush” with LOONY. Prior to the aforementioned The Circus was his 2018 Pieces of a Man project. That album included features from Julian Bell, Mikahl Anthony, Ghostface Killah, Corrine Bailey Rae, and more.
