Back in December, Bay Area legends E-40 and Too $hort connected for the joint project Ain’t Gone Do It/Terms and Conditions, a 20-track offering that saw a slew of contributions from Guapdad 4000, Mistah F.A.B., G-Eazy, Brent Faiyaz, Drakeo The Ruler, Larry June, Pimpin Ken, and more. This weekend, $hort decided to liberate a new visual from that release for “Fuck Yo Speakers,” a BossLife Big Spence-produced cut that sees the veteran emcee giving instructions on how to properly enjoy his music in your car:
“Your shit is plain, when you gon’ upgrade? Let the top down, it’s too much shade, get it customized like this, put some shoes on her and ride that bitch, with some loud ass woofers in the back, one hit’ll have you hooked like crack…
Turn it up loud, give that bitch some powder, if she say somethin’, turn it up louder, I don’t wanna hear shit, bitch, shut your mouth, I’m tryna blow these motherfuckin’ speakers out…”
Directed by Josh Fields, the video for “Fuck Yo Speakers” is bursting with color, as Too $hort performs the track in different locations — in his car, in front of a wall full of lights, and in a room with towering speakers, all with different women in tow. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Back in 2012, E-40 and Too $hort unveiled their first and second joint offerings History: Mob Music and History: Function Music, which altogether saw 34 songs and plenty of assists from the likes of Tyga, Jeremih, Wiz Khalifa, Suga Free, B-Legit, Kurupt, and Battlecat. Following their “Verzuz” battle last year, the two were then joined by equally iconic emcees Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube, announcing the formation of the super-group Mt. Westmore. It’s hopeful that a full-length body of work will arrive from the quartet soon.
