Sometimes, the music is just in an artist’s blood. With both his father and brother that made music, Syracuse, N.Y. born, North Carolina living rapper Toosii decided to jump into the craft when he was 13, in 2013. Rap was his way of dealing with the stresses and struggles of his youth. Three years later, he remained committed to his craft and hit the studio when he was 16 years old. At this point in his life, Toosii was playing high school football while making music and figuring out what he wanted to focus on. The decision became clear in 2019, when he dropped “Red Lights,” a soaring, melodic track about being cautious while riding around at night. The track became one of his biggest songs yet, with more than 7 million YouTube views to date and nearly 2 million streams on Spotify.

Fast forwarding to today, the rapper unleashes his second studio album Thank You For Believing.

Serving as the follow up to his debut album Platinum Hearts (Feb. 2020), Thank You For Believing is simply what it is — gratitude to those that had faith in him and helped get him where he is today. Spanning over a total of 13 records, the album includes three musical contributions from Mulatto, Key Glock, and DaBaby.

In a recent sit-down with William Ketchum at Audiomack, the rapper spoke on other artists bringing problems to themselves by talking about the opposition: “Say you’re an artist, and you’re the type of artist that’s speaking on opps. Like, ‘Yeah, my opps this, my opps that, I’ll do this to my opps, opps, opps.’ You know what opps you talking about, but to the people, you don’t know like that, anybody who doesn’t like you can make it seem like you’re talking about them now. So now you’re creating more problems for yourself than what you already had. What’s the reason for doing that? You already in a different position.
