Today (May 27), platinum selling recording artists Trippie Redd and Playboi Carti join forces to release the official music video for their smash hit “Miss The Rage,” directed by Nick Walker. “Miss The Rage” is the highly-anticipated lead single to Trippie Redd’s upcoming album TRIP AT KNIGHT. Produced by Dutch producer Loesoe and featuring Playboi Carti, this song was arguably one of Trippie’s most awaited release in recent years. As they set an entire car on fire and cause mass destruction to their surroundings, Trippie Redd kicks it off with the verse:
This like GTA, we shoot out helicopters (Brrt), monsters (Brrt)/ We pull up with sticks and hella choppers (Bah), ‘oppas (Bah)/ We don’t fuck with n***as, they the cops (Cops, bitch)/ I put my heart and soul into the Glock (In the Glock)
According to an annotation on Genius, the original “Miss The Rage” snippet received a considerable amount of hype after its preview on Instagram on Dec 21, 2020, and the clip took on a life of its own. As the song’s intro was gaining traction on TikTok, fans started to fantasize about Playboi Carti’s appearance on the track, using unreleased Carti vocals to create highly popular fan-made remakes of the song. The power of social media prevailed, as the official track became exactly what fans hoped for.
Ahead of the official release, Trippie explained the meaning behind the title “Miss The Rage.” “I been locked away. I’m one of them people that’s at the festivals, I come out going crazy out the rips,” he said. “I’m ready to get back to my stage presence. I’m tired of sitting in the house ’cause that’s all I been doing.” With the world slowly starting to open back up, it looks like Trippie will be able to return to the rage he misses so dearly.
