Earlier this year, Cantrell unveiled his Beware the Sheep Clothing project, and now he is continuing the momentum by unleashing a five-part video series filled with short films that coincide with each song from the project. For his latest offering, he premieres “Ratchet & Righteous” today, which takes viewers through Cantrell’s creatively reimagined version of Muhammed Ali’s story. In the song, Cantrell unleashes his raw flow with vengeance, perfectly fitting for the occasion:

N***as be bitch-made, inside Wesley, whip on Kente/ We be AK, ARs, Bibles, n**as be switchblade, do no dates ‘til the rent paid/ No complaining ‘til the tithes in, either way, you gon’ know about it when the boy drop and that tide in

Got a bad chick in a Benz with me, but it ain’t mine, see my manager/ We ain’t gotta pull a Phantom up, we don’t do it for the cameras/ Last year was a tough one, but Herod couldn’t damage us

The multi-talented artist made sure to delve into why he chose to pay homage to Ali for this specific video. “To me, Ali embodied what it means to be ratchet and righteous,” he tells REVOLT. “The whole idea of being ratchet and righteous is: ‘I’m God-fearing, but I’m also gonna be me unapologetically.’ With the visual, I’m portraying the late great Muhammad Ali with GRIP as Bundini. It’s not only an ode to their legacy but also how steel sharpens steel when you think of artists like us on a song together.”

The aforementioned Beware the Sheep Clothing includes features from Doeman and Grip. Most recently, Cantrell can be heard handing out assists on projects like Caleborate’s Light Hit My Skin, Rob Markman’s If You Don’t You’ll Regret It, and the intro track of A-Lex’s From A Seed (Deluxe). The newest video is a follow-up to the previously released cuts, “This Time Around” and “Hear Me Now.”
