Today (Apr 1) Freddie Gibbs releases a brand new song “Big Boss Rabbit,” which is expected to be on his upcoming ESGN 2 project. The Grammy-nominated artist initially previewed the clip on Instagram and paired it with a old school video game-esque animation clip. On the track, Gibbs even quickly acknowledges his recent Grammy loss, but in the best way possible:
Kane Train records, bitch we runnin’ shit. Just touched down in the airport/ Louis V backpack full of them hundreds bitch/ Cleaned I’m a gangster not no lover, bitch/ Grammy after party bitch, we rock it like we won it bitch
Boss shit, three MAC-11’s back of the seven on some boss hit/ I put that president on my wrist and I got frost bit. Stack it like pringles, you want a single? It’s gon’ cost you/ CEO rabbit young Freddie kane I’m on some boss shit
Last year, Gibbs teamed up with The Alchemist for Alfredo. The project contained 10 tracks with additional features from names like Rick Ross, Benny The Butcher, Tyler, The Creator, and Conway The Machine. Alfredo became both Gibbs and Alchemist’s highest-charting album to date, peaking at number 15 on the Billboard 200 thanks to 30,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. On top of the many accolades from magazines and music websites, Alfredo also earned the duo a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album.
In more recent Gibbs-related news, the rapper handed an assist to Joyce Wrice for her debut album Overgrown on one of the lead singles “On One.” He also covered Gil Scott-Heron’s “Winter In America,” which appeared on Black History Always – Music For The Movement Vol. 2 EP last month.
