Popcaan continues to deliver infectious tracks to the masses at an incredible rate, easily remaining in front of his fellow peers as a result. His latest is “Memory,” which sees production from Dunw3ll and sends a harmonious-yet-stern message to fraudulent people that attempt to infiltrate his circle:
“Di pussy dem try, yeah, mi see seh dem ah draw card, bwoy, man wi’ sen’ yuh go a morgue, dem cyaan neva catch mi off guard/
“Memory” follows a slew of high quality cuts released by Popcaan this year alone, including “Relevant,” “Cream,” “Jah Love,” “Win,” and “Best/Blessed.” He also celebrated last month’s lovers holiday with his four-track Gyalentine’s EP.
Last year saw the release of Popcaan’s latest project FIXTAPE, an OVO Sound/Warner Records-distributed body of work that saw 19 tracks with additional appearances from Stylo G, Drake, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Masicka, Frahcess One, Jada Kingdom, French Montana, and more. 2020 also brought about the release of Link Up, his joint EP with OVO cohort Preme that featured collaborations with the likes of Davido, Wiz Khalifa, and BEAM over six cuts.
This past weekend, Popcaan joined Marcia Griffiths and Buju Banton as supporting acts for Beres Hammond’s “Love From A Distance” concert, which was produced in conjunction with VP Records and — as the title suggests — was performed virtually from various outlets, garnering well over 600,000 streams via VP Records’ YouTube page alone. Following the performance, Popcaan took to social media to speak on what it meant to share the stage with a reggae legend:
“Words can’t express how happy i am to share the stage with this super talented human being. @bereshammond may GOD continue to guide and protect each day, forever appreciate you and your music, my respect!!!!”
