Guapdad 4000 and !llmind’s latest collab project is a love letter to their Filipino roots. The new 1176 album pays homage to things like Guap’s childhood home he grew up in and also a classic dish that’s present in Filipino homes: chicken adobo. The new track is named after this comfort food, and in its new freshly dropped visual, Guap compares the fulfilling feeling to his lover:
How I fell in love with you it was beautiful, like Chicken Adobo how you fill me up/ Being by myself is scary, but love is scarier/ I’m just tryna make it in America. How I fell in love with you it was beautiful/ Like Chicken Adobo how you fill me up/ Being by myself, but love is scarier. I’m just tryna make it in America, yeah
The new album includes 14 tracks and and features from names like frequent collaborator Buddy, Tish Hyman, and P-Lo. Leading up to the official release, Guap dropped off the “How Many” visual from the project. Recently, Guapdad also repped his city in the best way he knew how on “Oaklandish” alongside Rayven Justice and the Bay Area legend Too $hort. He also dropped off his street racer “Alpha” music video and swiftly followed up with a hilarious video for its official remix featuring Bfb Da Packman.
“If !llmind had a power it would be to shapeshift, he can do anything,” Guapdad said on the collaboration in a statement. He added, “Something like this comes in handy when you need to tell the full spectrum of your story like I did in this music. I had no idea we would stumble upon something this magical though but I guess I should have known that linking up with my Filipino brother would enhance my super powers! Enjoy it scamily.”
