The Weeknd has easily been one of the music industry’s biggest stars we’ve ever seen. He’s sold over 75 million records, won three Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, nine Billboard Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and secured an Academy Award nomination — which isn’t easy to do by any means. His new compilation album Highlights is right on time as he’s set to take the stage for Superbowl LV this Sunday. The compilation, curated specially for the legendary event, features the singer/songwriter’s most acclaimed cuts — “Blinding Lights,” “In Your Eyes,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” “Starboy,” “Heartless,” “Die For You,” “Love Me Harder,” “Wicked Games,” “The Hills,” “Often” and more.
The Toronto star has clearly been applying heavy pressure since he first stepped on the scene back in 2010. Though he’s come a long way since then, there’s no cap on what’s in store for him in the industry and other endeavors. Spending $7 million of his own money on the Super Bowl halftime show, this will definitely be a once in a lifetime performance from the multi-talented artist. With the anticipation building for both the Super Bowl and The Weeknd’s incredible performance to come, The XO artist has indeed cracked the code.
If this isn’t enough great news for you, The Weeknd also announced his After Hours World Tour to take place in 2022. Originally set to take place in 2020, the tour is now postponed to January 14 when it’s set to commence in Vancouver, Canada. With dates from Los Angeles to Berlin, Germany, the After Hours World Tour will conclude in London on November 16, 2022. The new and improved tour, jam-packed with 39 additional concerts, has been pushed back to next year in efforts to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
